Studio Policy
Classes follow a regular schedule - same time each week. Your time slot is guaranteed, and I am always available between classes. Classes are typically at least one hour long, and may go longer as needed. Rapidly advancing students may qualify for additional classes at no extra charge.*
Classes can be at my studio, your home or practice space, or via the Signal app. At my space we have access to two professional instruments, a good sound system for listening and playalong, a book and video library, and if students work hard, snacks. See below for towns and cities served.
Students are urged to make and share video updates of their work twice weekly using the Signal app. The first clips are due two days after class, with the second updates by day’s end the day before their next class.
We will formulate a flexible strategy that suits your needs and goals. See Classes Overview page.
Tuition
The rate is a flat monthly fee ($200). Tuition is due on or before the first class of each month, payable in cash, PayPal or check. Regardless of whether a month has four or five scheduled classes, the fee remains the same. Any cancellations must be made up. See below for cancellations, make-ups and schedule adjustments.
Included in tuition are printed assignments, my full time availability, full access to the music, book and DVD library, plus home or studio visits, field trips to concerts, shows, drum clinics and music stores. It includes consultation for any matter impacting the student, such as instrument purchase advice, working with a group, practice situations, etc.
Prepare for Class
Classes begin at the scheduled time, please arrive a few minutes early and be prepared for class. Being prepared means that you’ve practiced daily, and are ready to present the details of your practice experience from the previous week.
All are encouraged to ask questions, shape the discussion, actively participate in class direction and be engaged in the fun of learning.
The work takes time. You are expected to work at it each and every day.
Be sure to bring everything you need to class. It is advised that you prepare a binder for printed handouts and notebook for note-taking.
Cancellations/Make-ups
A 24 hour notice is required for cancellations and the cancelled class must be made up asap. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled class time are not eligible for make-up. In the event of an emergency on the day of your regular class, a make-up class can be scheduled asap. Rescheduled classes cannot be changed, rescheduled a second time, or carried over as credit.
Tuition fee is not refundable.
Flex-time available in summer and around the December holidays.
